SMV stands for Standard Minute Value. SMV is also known as standard time of a task or an operation or a garment article.
SMV is defined as the standard minute value is the time required for a qualified worker working at standard performance to complete the given task. Standard minute value is also referred to as the ‘Standard Time’ and ‘SMV’. For an example, SMV of shirt bottom hemming operation in 0.60 minutes.
In apparel manufacturing, SMV is measured for all sewing and non-sewing operations through Time study method or using a combination of motion study and synthetic data.
