What is PCD in Garment Industry?

Posted on September 15, 2021July 10, 2026 By Admin No Comments on What is PCD in Garment Industry?

In garment production, PCD stands for Planned Cut Date. The date at which the bulk fabric cutting is planned to start.

Merchants or Planning department prepare the time and action calendar for each order they received from buyer. They need to share some information with buyers like the starting dates of key processes. Cut planned date (PCD) is one such key date in the Time and Action calendar that need to share with the buyer.

PCD date

Even internal departments should be informed in advance about PCD of the specific orders.

Based on PCD, factories plan their activities related to other orders and plan material sourcing for each order.

The object is to meet buyer’s shipping date. Once PCD is planned, the pre-production tasks and post- production are planned accordingly. Planning of PCD date is scheduled by planner (production manager) looking into the ex-factory date and factory capacity for the specific date. But final date of the PCD is rediscussed during the preproduction meeting and reconfirmed by all the concerned team, looking into the fabric availability, availability of the cutting room capacity and need of production start.
